Editor's notes

Restaurants use heavy porcelain for a reason:  it heats up nicely in the oven, and it's very durable.  French restaurant porcelain is especially nice for its clean white color.  We collected these plates and soup bowls from bistros in Lyon, Le Mans, and Paray le Monial.
